School Accountability Report Cards (SARC)
The California Virtual Academy School Accountability Report Card (SARC) has been updated for the 2018-19 school year. The SARC is an annual report to parents of California's school children and is required by the state of California. The SARC provides parents with valuable information about the overall performance of our school. Demographics, student testing data, teacher qualifications, textbook sufficiency, and school safety are among the many areas covered in this report.

The Middle School program includes a community of educators, students, parents, and learning coaches working together to engage every student to ensure success in the standards-aligned curriculum. We recognize that each student is an individual with his or her unique way of learning. By actively engaging our students in daily rigor, inspiring every student to learn by thinking creatively, and by providing a positive environment, we will prepare our students for success beyond the classroom. To ensure all students have a successful academic plan set forth, we will continually provide feedback on academic progress supported by consistent monitoring and targeted instruction to promote student growth.
Each of our schools is a public charter school that is funded by state tax dollars and governed by California charter school, independent study, and applicable federal laws.
Each of our schools has a Board of Directors comprised of parents and community members who are passionate about providing additional educational options to the students of California. Each Board of Directors of the California Virtual Academies has entered into a management contract with Stride K12, Inc., a Virginia-based education curriculum and management company.
Our school office is in Simi Valley, California and the majority of our administrative team works from these offices. Besides our school office, we do not have any other physical sites in the state. Members of the California Virtual Academy school's faculty work from their homes and live within driving distance of the students in their class – thus enabling them to build a local school community in their area.

Welcome to our CAVA Middle School
Welcome to our CAVA Middle School
Let me take a moment to tell you about myself. I live in the heart of CAVA @ San Joaquin, but my heart belongs to all CAVA schools and our Middle School Program. I have been in education since 1992, serving students in grades 5 through 8 in California and in Indiana. I started with the California Virtual Academy schools in the fall of 2005. In my years with CAVA, I have served as a K-8 teacher, the Lead of Language arts, and a principal for 6 years in the northern CAVA schools before taking the Director role for the Middle School program. I hold 2 California credentials: a clear administrative credential and multiple subject teaching credential. I am committed to making the CAVA Middle School Program the best schooling option for all middle school students.
I understand that students come to our school for various reasons and at various instructional levels. Therefore, it is our goal to create individualized learning paths for each student, so each student can reach their goals and have a successful academic school year.
I look forward to a great school year meeting each of you, and watching your successes as we go through the year.

Crystal earned her Bachelor’s and Master’s degree in Curriculum and Instruction, with an emphasis in Educational Leadership from the University of the Pacific. In 2008, Crystal began her career in education with Aspire Public Schools. There she spent 5 years teaching 2nd and 3rd grade. Crystal began working for the California Virtual Academies in 2013. She has had experience in 2nd – 8th grade and worked as a Middle School Lead in Campus 1 from 2018-2022.
Crystal lives in Valley Springs (a small town in the Northern California foothills) with her husband and her two children. Outside of education, she enjoys the theatre and musicals (Hamilton and Phantom of the Opera are her favorites), dancing, playing the piano, and reading. She and her family love to be outdoors, gardening and tending to their animals.

Caitlin Ayers
7th Grade Principal
I have a master’s degree in Online Instruction and my Administrative Services credential from the University of California, Irvine. This is my 6th year at CAVA, and I have been in education for 16 years. I was previously a lead in 4th grade, so this is my first time being a part of our middle school team (I have already heard the most impressive things about this department). I am sure it will feel like no time before I am fully immersed in all things CAVA Middle School.
I live in Rancho Cucamonga (Southern California) with my husband of 14 years, David, and our two sons, Dylan and Derek. In our free time, our family loves to spend time outdoors at the local parks or to take short road trips to places of interest. This summer we are taking a bigger road trip to one of my favorite National Parks, Yellowstone. A favorite hobby of mine is taking photos, so I will have no shortage of pictures to share with you of my travels.

8th Grade Principal
This is my 7th year with CAVA. I started my journey with CAVA as a 6-8 grade teacher. I then became a lead, then a trainer. I started my role as principal during the 22/23 school year. I am excited to be the 8th grade principal for the 23/24 school year. I love working for CAVA and I appreciate the relationships between the teacher, parents, students, and administrators. I am looking forward to a wonderful school year.
