If you're a child of the late 70s/early 80s, you probably remember Star Blazers. Every day after elementary school I would run to my grandma's house (she had cable and loved to spoil me...thank you, Mema) in time to catch the last five minutes of Speed Racer -- mainly the closing credits where they're going through all the stages of cars -- and then it was time for Star Blazers! This was one of my first introductions to Japanese sci-fi anime, and the Quest for Iscandar was by far my favorite of the series (so much better than that lame killer comet). There wasn't a day that I missed rooting for the Star Forces to make it the 148,000 light years to Iscandar and back in just 365 days.
