I recently picked up a J&J jump/break cue, brand new for about $80.00 out the door with joint protectors. I don't play that much anymore, but...I used to. I don't do reviews very often, but for the price, I just couldn't not give this stick a shout out. 
I can honestly say that this thing puts a full frontal assault on a rack of 8 ball. The cue weighs 20 oz., and is J&J's standard length. I was playing on a Diamond bar table, and I can honestly say that in my 27 years of playing pool, it was the most controlled, powerful break, that I have ever experienced/achieved. I don't how long the cue will last, but it seems made well enough. At any rate, if you have the opportunity, for the money, there is no way to go wrong with one of these, IMHO.

Mine appears to be the model 2749. It says a phenolic tip, but the tip on this thing held chalk better than any phenolic, that I have ever experienced. It sounded phenolic when chalking it, but it held much better, IMO, and didn't have the harsh phenolic feel when breaking. The damn thing hits like a controlled war hammer.

From the link I provided, which tip option does yours feature, option 1 (white ferrule) or option 2 (black ferrule)?

I have the 2719 with option 1...chalk it up and you can draw the cue ball a table length w/o miscue.

How do you find it on breaks? Have you compared it to any other break cues?

I use one I purchased used about 10 years ago.Breaks strong and have never had a problem with it.

Second outing
Had this beast out again. Bar-box 8 eight ball. First break yields 4 Stripes, 3 solids...on the snap. Just stood there shaking my head. :smile: I hope this cue lasts a very long time. Second break, 2 solids, and the eight-ball in the bottom right hand corner pocket. I was breaking about 3 inches right of center table, and approximately 16 - 18 inches from the rail. This thing just continues to impress me.

I have owned 4 J&J Break/Jump cues, 3 won in charity tournament raffles, 1 given away, one lost, my son and I use them all the time. They will last as long as any cue. Although I suggest that you get a cuemaker to put a good tip on it, several pro players have recommended the Samsara one because it has a lot better control. That's my plan for next week, get the tips replaced on the things.

Truthfully, so far, I have no complaints with the standard white ferrule black tip, that came stock on the cue. I believe it's option #1.
I appreciate the suggestion, and I will keep it in mind.
