Why does the London Stock Exchange have a 2 minute lunch break?
Extended hours trading run from 5:05 a.m. to 7:50 a.m. and 4:40 p.m. to 5:15 p.m. on days with regular trading hours. The two-minute “lunch break” session isn't actually a meal break. In 2014, the exchange decided to halt open trading for a few minutes to allow large trades to execute at a frozen stock price.
The London Stock Exchange (LSE) only has a two-minute break at noon, which isn't really a lunch break. The mini-break is designed to protect institutional traders from high-frequency traders, whose split-second transactions can skew prices.

There is typically a drop-off in trading (meaning the volume of the transactions) at noon as most of the major news events are out in the market. During this lull, stock prices can often lose some ground.
If you work for more than 4 hours and 30 minutes in a day, you're entitled to a rest break of at least 30 minutes - for example a tea or lunch break. This should be one continuous break if possible. You must be allowed to take it during the day rather than at the beginning or end.
